SODOMY IN PRISON 9:36AM 13 MAY 08

  • The director of Health services in charge of prison Department has admited that homosexuality is rife in prison and said the vice was increasing and must be stemmed.
  • Dr. John Kobosia said his department had commissioned a research firm, Liverpoll VCT, to investigate homosexuality in prison to enable the government intervene.
  • The research firm began work a month ago and was expected to present its findings in two months.

UNIFORM SUPERVISOR KILLS HIS BOSS 9:26AM 13 MAY 08

  • A supervisor at Nairobi Uniforms bludgeoned his boss to death under unclear circumstances.
  • Witnesses said the supervisor walked into the shop and found his boss ready to close the shop. A quarrel ensued and the supervisor is said ro have picked a metal bar which he used to hit the victim on the head.
  • The manager died on spot.
  • Police are pursuing the assailant ,who like his victim was a Kenyan of Asian origin.

BEER DRINKING SPREE TURNS TRAGIC 9:18AM 13 MAY 08

  • A drinking spree turned tragic when a man was stabbed to death over a love affair in Kirinyaga District.
  • Jamleck Njiru was taking muratina, a traditional drink, when his neighbour accused him of having with his wife.
  • In ensuing quarrel, the neighbour stabbed Ndaburi in the back, wounding him fatally.
  • He was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.

KTB: OVER 169,000 DAIRY COWS LOST IN POST POLL VIOLENCE 9:08AM 13 MAY 08

  • Kenya Dairy Board Director James Karanja said farmers in the Rift Valley lost more than 169,000 dairy cows worth sh10 billion in post-election violence.
  • He said the country was experiencing an acute shortage of dairy cows and urged breeders to produce more heifers for sale citing the cost of quality dairy cows had over the past two months shor up by about 30%

RAILA OPENS NEW EQUITY BRANCH 9:00AM 13 MAY 08

  • Prime Minister Raila Odinga opened the Bondo Branch of Equity Bank and challenged Nyanza residents to take advantage of credit facilities and invest if the region is to develop.
  • The Premier regretted that although fishing was an important economic activity in the region, the area did not have an ice manufacturing plant.
